THANKSGIVING TRIP

a couple feasts from previous trips

Well everyone thanks giving is upon us again this year dahlberg and myself and anyone else that can make it are going to spend the first 3-4 days in glamis. then move over to ocotillo road for the feast with everyone. we arent exactly sure where we will be yet. dave is checking it out this weekend. we will either be at gecko road or the washes. i have some other friends camping wash 10 that cone off about 10 acres who said we are all welcome. look for the big white blimp and as always the sweed flags. or give me a call 714 863-2580 so i hope any and all of you can make it out on thanksgiving. either glamis or ocotillo road or both. there will be a couple deep fryers to cook turkeys and if everyone just brings one thing to share there will be plenty. and dont forget to answer the survey of where you will be so we know how much room to leave open.
thanks hope to see ya all there

THANKSGIVING GLAMIS DESTINATION

Well we have it all figured out after daves exploration this past weekend he found gecko road to be a non desirable location for the rvs so we are going to camp at wash 10 to get to wash 10 take the road next to glamis store and the railroad tracks up to wash 10 go right at wash 10 and look for the sweed flag the blimp will not be there till sun so hope to see ya all there i will be there sat morn with dahlberg and dave and as for the response to the poll a couple more are coming but i dont know who please comment here if you are coming out to glamis see ya all in the desert

i'm back

hey guys, as many of you know we went to the salton sea this weekend. (big john, jack, aaron, our new friend brian, tom, and rhianna.) what an unreal trip. and believe it or not i rode!! it felt so good. i dont know what happened to me but i am definitely back. i feel that i may have slipped into some wierd depression the last year or so. but i am definitely back!!! i felt so good on my bike, got into the zone. we found an oasis in the middle of the desert near the bradshaw trail that had to be one of the most beautiful places i have seen in a long time. we will have pictures soon. imagine hundreds of acres of towering palm trees with little trails running through them. and a glistening crystal clear pool fed by the california aqueduct, you can drink it. the place is like no other. look forward to that trip, would love to show yall. anyway just wanted to check in. howdy!!!!! OOOCCCOOOTTTIIILLLLLOOOOO!!!!

A Halucination by Mike Weaver

Man attacked in desert by Barstow Southside gang of Turtles

My riding buddies and I were off to ride free in the Barstow area off 15 at ---rd. As the sun was coming up and temp was rising from 38 degrees. We where looking at a good day in a new area.My son Black Jack and myself threw on our riding gear and met up with camp master Metro.Camp was a about 300 ft above I-15 but 2 miles in with a bountiful view of the desert valley with peaks on each side 50 miles clear. We viewed endless trucks and cars on a black ribbon cutting thought the valley floor.Gathering with my friends we decided to cut a trail southeast down to a pristine valley. Hopping on my stead Rincon we were off and into the wind coming at us at about 15 knots. having a true trail blazer, Big Dick Dahlberg Dog in the lead we were going through 5 foot drops vertical and up washes with sandy bottoms Childs play for my big red machine. We came to a flat area that was filled with green sage and wild flowers and spotted a herd of sheep.Knuckles Chuckles Lambert was off on his vintage gay orange two wheeler, as he herded the lambs though the desert tundra, all you could see were logos from thirteen different companies, plowing thought this gentle white flock , running for there life as if the devil was his copilot. As we watched, the sun shinned off a object in the flowers and caught my eye. I pulled my red beast to it and looked down on a poor desert turtle that had ended its life upside down a long time ago.I pick it up and little did I know but I had disturbed a ancient burial ground of the noble beasts akin to elephants this was where they went to died [as only African elephants where thought to do.] Let me give you a little back groung

I've been a turtle herder in my younger years back in the 70's I herded turtles from El Paso.Texas to Santa Fe, New Mexico and all the way to the plains of Colorado. with my drovers every night we would sing to them and those that ran we caught and brought back to the herd[ young ones usual] not a glamorize job but one that took kindness and a slow hand never loss one turtle although I loss a few good men during these year . I though they just drifted on but now I know that was not the case. I think when we turn them over at night so they wouldn't run off they might have got a little p.o. but until now I didn't think they could be vicious.

So on with our ride, we all looked at the mighty shell of a endangered turtles and put it down next to a bush but little did I know but, there was others watching us stealthily blended in the bushes, turtles guarding the buried site of the old one's at peace. Free sprits as the Indians believe I think now as were the gang of turtles I was curst because I disturbed one of there old one's. They followed us back to camp by smell and tracking as they are not very quick but are very determine they found us.They watched as we made dinner.
With the fair maiden Windy The Happy and her sons Prince Freckles.I the No Fear Rock Jumper and Prince Blonde Boy Drake My feet Don't Touch The Ground the Metro family we put on a fine pot of stew .The temperature was dropping and Trailmaster Tim [I've got my tea bag hanging]Metro was making a fire you could see from out of space, we all set around the fire, cold on the backside but, warm in our bellies from the good food. Then Black Jack and I'm To Cool Rich [All The Chicks Love Me] broke into song as the fire glowed and as songs were drifting all of us went to our rolls of beds. As I went I looked up at the stars and hit the hay.

Being in a weird bed and inside a trailer the closeness was to much for this outdoor boy I needed to out under the stars on this moonless night. back at the fire with the embers glowing thoughts of my youth and memoirs out on the range were in my mind. I guess Knuckles Lambert would say, you stupid old man go to bed you had a great day riding the Red Beast and you didn't kill yourself. As I walked back to my bed roll I heard scratching sounds ,to myself I thought its just the wind.

All of a sudden I'm on my face banging my head into the hard rocks and dirt, dazed and confused, I'm thinking what hit me, I think I passed out as it got darker and my ears were ringing I'm clouded in my thinking and but can fill myself being dragged.Next thing I know I'm in a box canyon 300 ft from camp I see the embers from our camp fire in the distance as my thoughts clear I feel my body being moved by little grips on my cloths. My heart starts pumping and I'm more aware as I look to the left I see ten inch round body's clipped to me, little beaks of the desert turtles taking me to who knows where. Do they have a sacrifice alter in this box canyon for trespassers of there dead ? I'm not waiting to find out there may be more up there as there are thirty around me now. I lift my right leg and shake off five clamped jaws with serrated beaks thank you they are so slow I shake my right arm and six more are off taking only bits of my shirt but not my hide with them.I'm on my right side and fling my left leg and arm and I hear them rip from me. I'm still a little confused from the head bang but as I sit up its starting to clear, blood is running into my left eye I wipe it away with my hand the Little bastards making their last crawl at me snapping and biting the air with a horrific hissing sounds in their gut based last effort . I set a fire line so they can't follow, only dry brush from summer keeps them back and alway from the camp. I'm clear I shake the last off my body and stumble toward the camp only three hundred yards, it seems like ten miles I'm at my limit my legs are ready to give out I'm shaking to make sure they are all off me my head is pounding with every step.

I'm back at camp I stumble to the trailer I careen off the bikes by the door ,I'm inside ,I shut the door I'm falling face first onto my bed I buried my face into the pillow as it soaks my blood into it I drift of to sleep

In the morning I'm thinking it a had to be a bad dream, but no I've got a rock facial ,small beak rips in my shirt and pants, I look out side and can see shells from there body's looking like tails of shrimp as they drug me off to the box canyon. Others think I'm crazy but that's my story and I'm sticking to it
